Rootfoot is a Boulder-based brand that creates high-grade, unisex, pure-plant fragrances, essential oils, incenses and accessories, inviting wearers to connect more deeply with the earth. As part of a larger rebrand initiative, the brand needed a new packaging design concept and execution for it's Diffuser Oil line. The design needed to complement the brand’s other lines and stand out in a competitive landscape.
Trushin Studios sought to understand the core values of the brand and explored multiple ways to evolve the look and identity of the Diffuser Oil line. Through a holistic process, a clean & modern solution was born; one that embraced the intention of the product and the essence of the brand. The label's small footprint posed challenges. We needed to accommodate the desired content while also following certain regulations for personal care products. Through creative use of color and typography, Trushin Studios included all necessary and desired content and differentiated the Diffuser Oils from other lines.
INSPIRED BY VINTAGE APOTHECARY DESIGNS, A SIMPLE SQUARE LINE WAS USED AROUND THE MAIN CONTENT OF THE LABEL. JUXTAPOSING THE DESERT YELLOW LINE AGAINST A SOFT, BLACK BACKGROUND GAVE THE LABEL A CONTEMPORARY NOD. WE BALANCED THE LABEL BY UTILIZING A SANS SERIF AND A SERIF TYPEFACE, SIMULTANEOUSLY MODERNIZING THE BRAND WHILE CONNECTING IT TO ITS EARTHIER ROOTS.
